Overheating occurs when a sauna stove is heated for too long or with an excessively intense fire, causing the metal body of the stove to reach temperatures significantly higher than those intended for normal operation.
Simply put, the stove is operating beyond its normal conditions.
How can you tell if a sauna stove is overheated?

- the metal body of the stove begins to glow red;
- flames continuously extend into the flue;
- the stones become extremely hot while the sauna room feels uncomfortably dry;
- bluish or purple heat marks appear on the stove surface;
- the metal may begin to deform over time.
If the metal starts glowing red, the temperature is already too high and the intensity of the fire should be reduced.
Why is overheating dangerous?

- loading too much firewood at once;
- using large quantities of extremely dry or high-energy firewood;
- keeping the air intake fully open continuously;
- heating the sauna for several hours when it is not necessary;
- using logs that are larger or longer than recommended by the manufacturer.
How to heat a sauna stove correctly
Good practice includes:
- using dry firewood;
- adding firewood gradually instead of filling the firebox completely;
- adjusting the air supply according to the intensity of combustion;
- stopping the heating once the sauna and sauna stones have reached the desired temperature.
The goal of a wood-burning sauna is not to achieve the highest possible temperature, but to create stable, comfortable and pleasant steam.
Can overheating a sauna stove once cause damage?
Probably not. However, if the sauna stove is regularly heated until the metal glows red or the stove is continuously operated at extremely high temperatures, its lifespan may be significantly shortened. Damage caused by repeated overheating is generally not covered by the standard warranty.
How to extend the lifespan of a sauna Stove

- it is heated moderately;
- good-quality dry firewood is used;
